Ideally you’ll want to find a table with players who are less skilled than you and a table is loose and seeing a fair amount of action (good number of hands per hour, decent pot size, etc.). Unless you have money to burn and the experience to match, don’t jump into a high stakes game; refine your skills at the lower limit tables.

Take a close look at the chip stacks of the other players, if they have a good stack, they’re probably serious players, however some players knowing this, will keep a small stack to confuse the issue. Remember poker may be gambling, but it’s also a lesson in psychology.

When possible (and you won’t always have this option) have the strong players on your right, this allows you to see how they play, before committing your own chips. This might not be possible on your first visit to Everest Poker, but keep track of screen names and style of play; you’ll soon learn the loose or tight players.
